Healthy Travel Snacks: My Go-To Picks for Flying

Traveling with kids (or even solo!) can be a whirlwind, and the last thing I want to deal with is a hangry meltdown—or overpriced airport food that leaves all of us feeling sluggish. That’s why I always pack a stash of healthy, satisfying snacks to get us through the trip. My carry on is always loaded with snacks for the family.

Here are my go-to travel snacks that are TSA-friendly, kid-approved, and nourishing on the go.

My Favorite Travel Snacks

Protein Bars
A must for quick, no-mess fuel. I love:

  • Skout Bars – clean ingredients, great flavors, and kid-friendly.

  • The Only Bar – minimal ingredients, just the good stuff.

Meat Sticks
For a protein boost that actually keeps us full:

  • Chomps – no weird additives and tastes delicious. We love the beef flavor.

  • Epic Bites – the mini packs are perfect for sharing or stashing in my bag.

Nuts & Seeds
I like bringing mini pouches of nuts, especially pistachios. They offer protein, healthy fats, and that satisfying crunch. Making your own trail mix with nuts, seeds, raisins, and chocolate chips is also a good move!

Crunchy Snacks
For something fun and snacky without the junk:

  • Lesser Evil Popcorn – lightly salted, organic, and a hit with the whole family.

  • Siete Chips – grain-free, made with avocado oil, and come in super tasty flavors.

Hydration
We always bring our stainless steel water bottles (empty through security, of course!) so we can refill at a hydration station instead of buying plastic bottles. Bonus: it keeps water cold for hours.

Fresh Produce That Travels Well

  • Apples or clementines – sturdy, mess-free, and refreshing.

  • Carrot sticks or mini rainbow peppers – crunchy, hydrating, and easy to eat mid-flight.

Whether you're prepping for a family getaway or a solo business trip, these snacks help take the stress out of travel days. They’re easy to pack, don’t require refrigeration, and help keep energy stable when options are limited.

What are your favorite go-to travel snacks? I’d love to hear!
